These are legitimate protective motorcycle jeans designed to look and move much more like everyday denim than traditional bulky riding pants. The Pure Grit 2.0 is a fully CE AA-rated riding garment rather than simply a pair of jeans with armor pockets added to it. Rippl uses a multi-layer construction consisting of stretch denim on the exterior, full aramid/Kevlar protection through the legs, and a breathable inner mesh layer for comfort.
Protection includes removable CE Level 2 armor at the knees and hips. The knee armor sits in dedicated Velcro-secured pockets designed to help keep the protectors properly positioned while riding. Armor can be removed for washing or when you want the jeans to feel lighter off the bike.

Rippl states that the Pure Grit 2.0 was independently tested to CE AA standards and underwent a Darmstadt abrasion test at 412 rpm, with the company reporting more than 30 meters of simulated slide resistance. The current certification information lists Intertek EU Certificate No. FF-59326.
These are a great option for street riding, commuting, touring, or anyone who wants substantially more abrasion and impact protection than ordinary denim without walking around in obvious motorcycle pants after getting off the bike.
